The Blunk Bangle is cast from a unique piece of jewelry made in 1965 by JB Blunk. Assembled by Tess Young, the bracelet features a solid recycled gold cylindrical band fitted with a sliding charm.

The original bangle was commissioned by the Surrealist painter Gordon Onslow Ford as a gift for his wife Jacqueline Johnson. As much a piece of wearable kinetic sculpture as it is an example of fine jewelry-making, the Blunk Bangle feels at once ancient and totally contemporary.

Blunk began making jewelry in 1954 at Palos Verdes College in Los Angeles where he taught ceramics – he continued to make unique pieces throughout his life from his studio in Inverness, California.
